Heavy Metal from Austin, Texas.  Nothing less, nothing more.

To remain stagnant is a straightforward path to death. Ignore the current trends, even in Metal music. Borrow what influences you and build upon it, making it your own instead of ripping it off.
These are the three simple rules Dead Haven have always followed. With songs whose backbone is built from thrash, extreme music, classic metal, good ole rock 'n roll, and ice cold beer.

In early 1999, Dead Haven was formed in Austin, Texas by three fans of heavy music. With Robert Sullivan on guitar (and later taking on vocals), Damon Opheim on guitar, and Derek Dinderman on drums, songs began to be crafted in the vein of early Metallica, Iron Maiden, Slayer, etc. The bassist position was never successfully filled so sometime in 2001 Damon switched over to playing bass and an old friend Tommy Minyard was recruited on guitar after leaving his previous band. Dead Haven was officially established as a full band.

Soon after this the band were performing live around Austin at such venues as The Metro, Room 710, Black Cat Lounge, The Vibe, and more. New songs were written and a few old ones dropped as the newer material was becoming a bit more advanced.

In early 2003, a few problems began to develop between a couple of the band members and Damon left the band. Chris Hooker soon stepped in to take over. It was at this time that the band started doing some of its most successful shows to date, including several at the infamous Backroom. Trips were made to perform in Dallas, Houston, Corpus Christi, and San Marcos. The fanbase was growing and the band were even offered the opening slot for Morbid Angel in Austin, but it never happened do to them cancelling that part of their tour.

Personal and musical differences began stirring up within the group and in mid 2004 Chris decided to leave. Damon just happened to show up to rehearsal one day and everyone agreed it would be best to set aside any past differences and move on with the original lineup.

Things were going good at first, but after a while things got a little sour again. Damon left once again and joined the Air Force. A few months later our old friend J-ROD tried out for bass and turned out to be the perfect guy for the job.
