Biography Formed in January of two thousand and three, it was the same typical story, four hungry small town kids pooling their musical influences and their dreams to create what they called a band. This time it was different, all the gears came together and this became a well-oiled machine. This machine was Freaklabel and this is a brutal masterpiece. These are four professional musicians putting their lives on the line for the one thing that matters to them most, music. Each eccentric band member has been labeled, their music has been labeled, and their fans have been labeled, it seems that none of these labels fit better than the label they stuck to themselves, on their working class metal groove, and their legions of Gearheads that have become the cogs in their vicious machine. These four seemingly different musicians have found a nucleus in the atom of Freaklabel. The result is a musical paradox of tuned down 80's guitar hooks, jazz fusion, drumming so devastating that death metal may be jealous, and a vocal range so wide you need a map to find your way around it. Their live shows have transformed from a typical rock show into what has become an unforgettable exchange of power and energy rarely seen from a band this day in age. With the vulnerability in vocalist Scott Arens' voice coupled with his commanding presence, the Gearheads cannot help but eat the energy like maggots feeding off a carcass. Not only is the emotion invigorating, the mechanical movements and the relentless marching of bassist Adum Mykris is unbelievably entertaining. The over the top dynamics of drummer Doug Callahan and the confidence and sheer precision of guitarist Ryan Keller are the perfect yin to yang combination. The endless pulse of the Gearheads on the floor keeps the reciprocated energy at its peak throughout the experience. In the three years since their inception, Freaklabel have created a live show that is unparalleled in the current music scene. Realizing that live is the only way to experience the pure musical brutality that is Freaklabel, they have chosen to record and release the uncompromising Live & Brutal. Heavy, technical, and bar none, the best metal act since Pantera, this live disc confirms that Freaklabel are the reigning kings of the current metal movement. In the beginning, Freaklabel came to stake their claim as the most dominating force in the underground music scene, Live & Brutal is the culmination of that journey and the threat is real. Freaklabel is not just a band, not just this machine, Freaklabel is an experience. Freaklabel has played with the following acts: Lamb of God, Superjoint Ritual, Dimmu Borgir, Vampire Mooose, Shadows Fall, Killswitch Engage, Mastodon, Atreyu, Lacuna Coil, Bleeding Through, Opiate For The Masses, Fear Factory, Otep, Devil Driver, Dope, Ill Nino, Drowning Pool and Hatebreed. |
